SUMMARY:Fall Break Art Camp
DTSTAMP:20190924T194850Z
DESCRIPTION:\N\N\N\NMapmaking Meets Art: An Exploration  During this two-day workshop, we will explore maps and mapmaking from the vantage point of the artist. What do maps do for us and what can be mapped other than land? We will look to old maps, aerial maps, topographical maps, and maps of the unseen and the imaginary for our inspiration and material. Mediums will include printmaking, painting, collage, and drawing. Support from the Oklahoma Arts Council has allowed us to offer the camp at a reduced price.Instructor’s nameArt educator Jen Johnson holds an undergraduate degree in art history and English literature from the University of Kansas, as well as an MAT (Masters in the Art of Teaching) from the English Department at the University of Montana. In her own practice, Jen is equally invested in understanding the larger world through her interactions with the art objects of others and the making of her own art objects. Jen considers her greatest strengths as an educator to be the facilitation of reflective and critical conversations about art and art making, as well as the creation of safe environments for authentic explorations into the practices of self-expression and making. Her preferred mediums are mixed media, printmaking, and photography, but she enjoys the act of creation no matter the medium and considers it one of her greatest joys to make art alongside others.Course type \NKids Camp\N \NClass time \NThursday, Oct 17 and/or Friday, Oct 18 10:00am-3:00pm *Drop off between 9:30-10, projects will begin at 10. \NTuition \N$30.00 members, $40.00 non-members PER DAY \NAges \N6-12\NAll Supplies Included \NStudents need to bring their lunch and a snack each day.\NTo RSVP please fill out our registration form here or call us at 405-744-1535.\N\N\N\N
