Week One: the 1920's

This week our focus will be on the so-called Roaring 20's, a decade of dramatic social change and upheaval. We will make artworks inspired by Art Deco, early Expressionism, surrealism, the Harlem Renaissance, jazz, urbanization, and 1920's fashion trends. Just like the decade itself, our week will be filled with exploration, invention, and enthusiasm!

In each of our four day summer camps, we will explore the visual art and popular culture of a decade (or two), creating works inspired by what we see and learn. We will take our inspiration from artists and art movements, popular trends in clothing, architecture, literature, theatre, film, music, and dance, as well as the historical and social forces that shaped each era. Each camp will include a combination of two dimensional and three dimensional projects in a variety of media, and will be divided into a 6-10 year old age group and an 11-14 year old group.
