Arts Administration Internship

Job Description
The Arts Administration Intern supports the program implementation and daily functions of the Prairie Arts Center. This is a one-semester intern position working directly with the General Manager. Each intern will complete a marketing plan for a special event scheduled at the end of their internship. Interns are welcome to suggest classes and implement classes/workshops.  Interns will work on social media planning, budgeting, and artists'/partners communication with the General Manager weekly.  Front desk duties will be assigned allowing students to develop customer services and data entry skills. Occasional opportunities to go off-site and represent the center within the community at local events. 

Schedule
The Arts Administration Intern will set their own schedule within the operation hours, Tuesday - Thursday 12pm - 8pm or Friday - Satueday 10am - 4pm. Interns are expected to keep to their schedule as it can affect the schedule of staff.  Interns will work a total of 10 hours a week for one semester, totaling 160 hours in one semester.   Each internship begins the first week of classes.

Key Qualifications and Experience
 
  • 1 or more years of experience working with the public
  • 1 or more years of experience with an art form (visual, digital, or performing arts) 
  • Strong communication skills; written and verbal  
  • Meets deadlines regularly. 
  • Ability to work, Tuesday-Saturday during semesters.
