Journal Prompt - Today I Noticed

For this week's prompt, look inside, outside, around the house, and notice one thing or maybe many things that you hadn't noticed before. Now WRITE! For example, today I was up super early and noticed the sunlight casting a pattern across my hardwood floors. Throughout the day, I noticed that every time I walked passed our birdbath outside it had one or two birds perched on edge, taking a drink.  Notice the small things, notice the sound of your kid's voice changing, and notice how grateful you are for these details. Journal Prompt 2

This simple project will thrill your favorite small human. We promise! Art activities that double as objects of imaginative play are always a favorite. This beautiful butterfly only requires paper, pen, scissors, tape, and two straws to make. Pro tip: Use thicker paper for best results and, if possible, use one skinny straw and one thicker straw.

Explore your inner world with this fun art activity! Cut out a picture of yourself to start, lopping off the top of your head so you can peer inside. What would you see? Have fun looking through magazines for words and images that might dwell there in your mental landscape. Pro tip: Don’t overthink it! Most of what’s in our mind is subconscious. Let yourself pick out your words and images from that less explored region of your being. You might be surprised at what you find! For more activities and prompts, visit our Creative Classroom.

Journal Prompt - Around the Table
For this week's prompt, take a look at your dinner table, your work table, or your craft table and write! For example: Around my table, I gather the faces I love to share a meal with and good conversation. Our table sometimes has puzzles, games, and laptops on it. It has scratches and bumps, each one bringing a memory to mind. One big scratch that is hard to see, but I know it is there, came from my son's baby carrier. My husband sanded and stained our table himself. This table has been with us for almost 13 years and I wouldn't trade it in for a shiny new one.

Journal Prompt

Use modest materials to create a whimsical dinosaur diorama! All you need is a couple of paper plates, a few toilet paper or paper towel rolls, glue, scissors, and some paint. We made a brontosaurus but you could try a stegosaurus with a scaly back and tail or even a Tyrannosaurus rex standing up on his hind legs. Or try them all! This ice cream cone print is so yummy looking, you’ll probably have to have some ice cream right after you make it! Pro tip: lightly swirl together two or more colors of paint for a fun marbled look.
