  • Screenprinting Wrapping Paper Workshop

Learn to use the silkscreen process to design and print your own bespoke gift wrap!
During Friday’s workshop, we will learn how to design a repeating pattern. We will create hand-drawn transparencies of our patterns and transfer these designs onto screens with the photo exposure process. On Saturday, we will dive into the printing process to create our sheets of gift wrap. This style of printmaking is fun and accessible for all skill levels. You will leave the class with an exciting new skill set and with a stack of unique festive gift wrap that is sure to “wow” your friends and family!

    Instructor's name

Mary Claire Becker holds an MFA from the University of Iowa, a Certificate of Book Arts from the UI Center for the Book, and a BFA from UNC Asheville. These creations rearrange and re-contextualize human-made depictions of Nature, drawing inspiration from plastic house-plants, bucolic social media posts, Hudson River School paintings, and more. She has shown nationally at venues such as Tippetts and Eccles Gallery at Utah State University, the Stanley Museum of Art’s First Friday series (Iowa City, IA), Visions West Contemporary (Livingston, MT), the New York Center for Book Arts, Blue Spiral 1 (Asheville, NC), and Manifest Gallery (Cincinnati, OH). • September Instructional Open Studio

The goal of Instructional Open Studio is for students to work freely within a flexible schedule while an instructor is present. Instructional Open Studio is open to students that have taken the Introduction to Pottery and with beginner to advanced pottery knowledge. During these hours students may come in and work, this is not a led class, but more of a working studio where questions can be addressed to instructors and peers. We hope to create an environment where students can experiment and get creative while having a community of support!

Instructional Open Studio instructors will vary month to month, but a schedule will be provided. Times and instructors are subject to change. Students can come to any or all time slots. Some of the times are during classes, Instructional students are welcome but need to understand that equipment and instructor present is giving class enrolled students priority.

Students must adhere to the hours posted, if there is a 1 or 2 hour gap between times, students must clean up and leave the studio for that time. This is a needed break for instructors and to prepare the studio for the next class.
