  • Ceramic Hearts for Mother's Day

    Show your mom some love this Mother's Day by creating a handmade ceramic heart. We will be making ceramic hearts out of clay slabs that can be personalized with thumbprints, letter stamps, and underglaze. These sweet ceramic pieces are great for ring holders or simply as decoration! Will be ready for pickup by May 10th, right in time for Mother's Day.

  • Crepe Paper Flowers

    Saturday, July 14th from 11am - 3pm - Workshop
    Learn the basic techniques for making beautiful crepe paper flowers.  In this course you will learn how to make three different flowers: roses, cherry blossoms and water flowers.  Makers will have the chance to get creative with their flowers by choosing colors, sizes and styles.
     
    Instructor:
    Alyssa Couturier earned her BFA in Fashion from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2008 after completing an internship at Ralph Lauren.  After graduating, she worked at various theaters and venues on the east coast as a costume designer and technician.  She then attended the University of Florida where she earned an MFA in costume design.  Her greatest passion is to help directors of plays, musicals, and films, bring their vision to life through costume design.  She learned how to make paper flowers when researching hat decorations used during WWII when silk was in short supply.   She is currently the Resident Costume Designer at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Then we will start painting our interior rooms! We will even design and make our own shingles for the roof. Next we will make our own wallpaper, art and accessories to make our dollhouses come to life.

Imagery for the workshop has been provided by local artist Jude Tolar, whose piece “Sunflower Power” will be used as a template for carving. Each section of the block will be a unique take on Tolar’s pastel painting, and our printing assistant, Jenn Johnson, will be available to demonstrate various carving techniques. At the end of the workshop the entire block will be printed by Johnson, and each participant will receive one signed black and white print from the edition. Carving time will take 45 minutes to 1.5 hours per section, and example imagery will be provided to help guide participants.
