Final Friday Art Crawl

Stop by the Prairie Arts Center on the Final Friday Art Crawl February 22nd We will have Paint - A - Mug ($10 for members, $15 for non-members), and then FREE Watercolor Postcards. Benjamin Murphy will be doing demos of his upcoming Still Life Drawing - Essential Techniques class starting March 7th. As always we will have The Arts Shop open with new and used art supplies. We will be open for all activities from 5-8pm, come and go. With your significant other, your entire family or just a group, we have plenty of space! All ages welcome. Crawl on!
Flood The Streets With Art 2019

We are gearing up for the 3rd Annual Flood the Streets with Art in Stillwater. We are taking our belief that art should be accessible to everyone, taking it to the streets and leaving FREE art for people to find. Originally an international initiative that began on Facebook, we wanted to bring the idea to Stillwater in a community way. All items distributed around town will be original art created and donated by local artists. You can make one – or more! – pieces of art to be donated to the drive. It can be big or small, 2D or 3D. On December 14, 2019, we will load up the Art "Bus" and flood the streets of Stillwater with the FREE art, and we will post clues on social media.

To help make this happen we encourage anyone who wants to donate by delivering original pieces of art to Prairie Arts Center, 1001 S. Duck, between now and Dec. 13th by 5:00pm. We will have tags for you to leave information about the art. When you donate we will give you a FREE Flood the Streets with Art tote.

Last year we had 75 pieces of artwork. We would like to reach 100 pieces this year!

Learn to create believable trees. We’ll learn about structure, parts of trees, foliage masses, tree shapes, values. We’ll work from life and from photos, and maybe en plein air, weather permitting. The main focus is on pastel painting, but the principles would apply to oils and acrylics, too. So, oil and acrylic painters are welcome, as well.

Free Visiting Artist Workshop - Brian Fleetwood

Brian Fleetwood is an interdisciplinary jewelry artist currently based in northern New Mexico. Brian uses material and technical experimentation to create three-dimensional organic forms. Drawing from traditional stories that emphasize the intimate connection between all living things, past experience working in biology, and a personal interest in the connection between mind and body, Brian uses his work to explore parallels between the way ideas and living organisms grow, spread, and evolve. Brian holds an MFA in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently assistant professor in Studio Art at the Institute of American Indian Arts.

Free Visiting Artist Workshop Friday, November 15, 2019 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Workshop participants will receive a selection of kits from Fleetwood’s Symbiosis Project, funded through a
Windgate Foundation Grant through the Center for Craft. During the workshop, attendees will complete at least
one of the customizable kits, creating a one of a kind pin. No jewelry or other making experience is necessary. All
materials will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring any materials they wish (paints, pigments, paper,
cloth, small found objects, etc.) to customize their own kits. Workshop attendees will be free to take any incomplete
kits with them, to nish as time allows.
Fused Glass Ornaments

Garden Party Painting

Join instructor Mark Crow for a garden party in February! Learn the valuable skills of underpainting and pallet knife application while creating a beautiful impressionist image of a garden in full bloom.

Mark Crow has been an artist for 30 years and is new to Stillwater. His paints portraits, landscapes and old buildings. He also enjoys painting scenes from sci-fi movies. Mark's classes are always filled with humor, laughter, and the freedom to play!
