  • Artful Pumpkin Painting

    Kicking off our Artful Pumpkin Patch with all the love in this festive pumpkin painting by Mark Crow. Mark will walk you step by step through the process of painting your own pumpkin love.  Everything will be provided.

    Mark Crow has been an  artist for 30 years and is new to Stillwater. His paints portraits, landscapes and old buildings. He also enjoys painting scenes from scary movies. Mark's classes are always filled with humor, laughter, and the freedom to play!

  • August - Make and Take

    This month's Make & Take will include two differentfiber arts activities! The main project is a trendy yarn wall hanging; and for those with a bit more time on their hands, we will also be making friendship bracelets to celebrate being back in school!

    This is a make andtake for all ages, 3 to adult.

  • August 17th Pop Up Art Shops!

    The definition of a “pop-up shop” is a short-term, temporary retail event that is "here today, gone tomorrow". We are excited to begin our second annual Pop Up with ART series every third Saturday from May until August. We are inviting up to fifteen different artists in all different media types to participate in our shops and bring handcrafted art pieces all under one roof. Pop-up Art Shops will happen in collaboration with the Stillwater Farmers Market and our Make-&-Take event. Join us for local art, food and a creative activity.

  • August 17th - Make and Take

    Come and join us to make a back-to-school keychain for your backpack! We will have wooden beads to paint a face on, colorful beads for the body, and your choice of ribbon, twine, or leather to finish it off.


    All ages and skill levels welcome.

  • Basic Screenprinting Workshop

    Students will learn how to expose their design onto a silkscreen coated with a photosensitive emulsion.  After the exposure the screen will be ready to print on totes, t-shirts or posters.  No experience in screenprinting is necessary.
     
    Designs must be one color and submitted to Prairie Arts Center prior to the workshop at infoartscenter@okstate.edu 
    13x13 tote(s) will be provided.
    12.5 x 19 Poster paper will be provided.
    Students may also bring their own t-shirts to print on. (please keep image size in mind of T-shirt.)

    Rob Smith is the Director of the Lachenmeyer Arts Center in Cushing, Oklahoma. He taught printmaking at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond for 28 years.   He has been actively involved creating prints in the screen printing process for 40 years. Smith holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Rob's Smith’s prints have been exhibited in over 150 juried art shows nationally.

    Learn the basics of knitting and work on a small project! We will learn how to cast on, knit and purl, cast off, and how to read patterns. This is a great way to start knitting and feel good about continuing learn about the art form. Instructor can provide learning for both right and left handed knitters.

Glass fusing is a way to bring eclectic pieces of glass together to create beautiful contrast.  During the class you will learn some of the basics of glass fusing while making simple jewelry or magnets, fountain pebbles and anything else creative we come up with. We will also be adding dichroic glass!

    Candy Beth Michalski has been working with fused glass since 1994. She loves that hot glass can’t be dictated to but only works as a collaboration. Her work has been featured in the 100 GLASS BEADS book, Lapidary Journal and Bead & Button magazines.
