Art Partners
We offer students, aged 13 and older, the opportunity to partner with a local artist for instruction and guidance here at the center. If you have an interest in working in a particular medium or completing a specific project, and you don't see a class that suits your needs, Art Partnering is a great option. Mediums include, but are not limited to, drawing, painting, ceramics, printing, digital photography, fiber arts and graphic design.
Classes are arranged between Prairie Arts Center and the adult student or, for children 13-17, the student's parent or guardian. Classes are for individuals or pairs, and pricing is per hour, based on the number of students. Most supplies are included in the cost of classes. Scheduling is contingent on artist and student availability.

Marlie McLaughlin
Art Partner Classes – Sewing / Embroidery
Marlie is a semi-professional cosplayer based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the artist behind Divine Creations Cosplay. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University with a minor in theatre and has been creating costumes since 2017. Marlie has earned more than twenty costuming awards and specializes in sewing, patterning, needle arts, foam smithing, corsetry, dye work, and more.
Missy Kaiser
Art Partner Classes – Jewelry / Lapidary
Missy was born and raised in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and has also lived in Colorado, New York City, and Seattle. She has studied photography and letterpress, holds a BS in Cultural Studies, and has a love for metalsmithing. When she’s not creating, Missy enjoys cooking, yoga, hiking and traveling. She is also a full-time staff member and administrative assistant at Prairie Arts Center.
Missy Hitch
Art Partner Classes – Wheel Throwing / Handbuilding/ Glass Fusing
After nearly 20 years of working in administrative positions at Oklahoma State University, Missy took a ceramics class and instantly fell in love with clay. She now teaches handbuilding and beginning wheel classes at Prairie Arts Center, where she enjoys creating functional pieces such as mugs, baking dishes, and teapots. Missy also loves exploring decorative projects and learning new techniques in the studio. She enjoys sharing the tips and tricks she's learned and helping students discover how fun and approachable pottery can be.
Miriam Young
Art Partner Classes – Wet Felting / Weaving
Miriam creates fiber art using traditional crafts including felting, knitting, crocheting, macramé and embroidery, with a particular focus on wet and nuno felting. She loves transforming delicate wool fibers into vibrant works of art using color, texture and natural materials. Miriam draws inspiration from traditional handcrafts, nature and the materials themselves, often allowing the fibers to guide the direction of a piece.
