Prairie Arts Center is excited to once again partner with our neighbors to the north, the OSU Museum of Art, for this year's Spring Break Camp. This 4-day camp will begin on Tuesday, March 18th with a visit to the museum for an interactive tour of Ralph Steadman: And Another Thing where campers will get to see Steadman's expressive, bold, and whimsical work up close. Our week of art making will take inspiration from Steadman's ink blot technique and his willingness to wait for characters and images to emerge from his random splats and splodges. Students should bring a lunch and snack, and come dressed for the weather and making messes!

We are excited to announce some changes in our summer programming for students between the ages of 11 and 14. Each week, rather than focusing on a theme, students will have the opportunity to focus on one particular medium. They will explore and create while developing skills in medium-specific processes and with medium-specific tools. These camps are four days a week, and 2.5-3 hours each day.

Join us this summer as we shine the spotlight on the lives and work of six important and enduring visual artists.  Each week students will explore a different artist in depth, creating works inspired by their medium, subject matter, philosophy, and life. Each 4 day camp will include a combination of two dimensional and three dimensional projects developed for 6-10 year old artists. As always, we will learn a lot, play, explore, and expand our understanding of art and the world around us!
