Mahjong

Every Wednesday, gather your Mahjong crew and come play at your own pace at the Prairie Arts Center! From 12:30pm to 7:30pm, drop in and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of tiles on your schedule.

We'll have tables set up and ready to go, along with a variety of tile sets, national cards, and big cards. There's no instructor or lead — just bring your group and play by your own house rules the way you love to play! It's your game, your way. Bringing your own snacks and drinks is always encouraged!

Curious about American Mahjong but not sure where to start? This two-day introductory class is designed to guide you through the fundamentals of the game in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Participants will learn the basics of American Mahjong, including tile recognition, game setup, turn order, and how to read and play using The Big Card by The Mahjong Line. Instruction will focus on understanding the card, building hands, and developing confidence in gameplay.

Join us for Mahjong Open Play at Prairie Arts Center—a relaxed, welcoming space to gather, play, and connect.

This is open play, not instruction, and is ideal for players who want to continue learning and move beyond the basics. Bring your own
beverage and snack—we’ll provide the game sets and cards. Play will use the National Mah Jongg League card or The Big Card, table decides the card.
