Meghan Brasuell is the Programming and Community Engagement Manager at Stillwater Center for the Arts.  She previously was the Director of Facilities and Production for Mitchell Hall Theatre at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond which presents over 80 performances a year. Meghan is also the Social Media and Booking Manager for the Blue Door music venue in Oklahoma City and a member of Leadership Arts.  Prior to returning to her native land of Oklahoma, Meghan was the Director of Operations and Director of Event Services at the Legendary Chicago Theatre, and the Operations Manager for Performing Arts Chicago.  In April of 2010, Meghan founded the Moms of Brookfield “The MOB” which serves the Brookfield community by connecting families with small children together and has grown to over 160 members. Meghan graduated from the Hilberry theatre at Wayne State University in Detroit MI with her MFA in Theatre Management and received her BA in theatre from UCO.

Stillwater Center for the Arts Program & Community Engagement Manager

The new Stillwater Center for the Arts (SCA), an Oklahoma State University/City of Stillwater partnership, is seeking a Program & Community Engagement Manager. The SCA is housed in the Multi Arts Building, a 14,000 square foot building with areas for painting and drawing, photography, ceramics, jewelry-making, sculpture, and fiber arts. The SCA is dedicated to providing high  quality public art programming and experiences for all ages.

Stillwater is a community in northeastern Oklahoma with a population of 48,000.

The Program and Community Engagement Manager:

• Oversees the planning, implementation and assessment of the SCA's educational
• Ensures that the programs and services offered by the Stillwater Center for the Arts contribute to the organization's
• Collaborates with the Director and staff at the OSU Museum of
• Monitors the delivery of the programs and events of the SCA to maintain or improve
• Provides regular program reports to
• Serves as Chair or Co-chair of Programming
• Assists the Education Coordinator in recruiting, interviewing and selecting teaching and program staff who have the teclu1ical and personal abilities to help further the mission of the Stillwater Center for the
• Works with the Education Coordinator to ensure that all teaching and program staff receives an orientation to the Stillwater Center for the Arts

and that appropriate safety training is completed. Assists the Director in supervising all teaching and SCA staff.

• Assists the Director on program-related sponsorships, grants and contributions.
• Keeps the Director apprised of ongoing program related budget

This is a full-time position with benefits. The Program and Community Engagement Manager reports directly to the Director and is responsible for the successful leadership and day-to-day management of the programs at the SCA. A BA or BFA in an art-related field and 3-5 years in arts administration are required for this position. A MA or MFA in an art related field and 3-5 years in arts administration in a leadership position are preferred. The successful candidate will have outstanding verbal and written communication skills. The hours are 9:30-6:30 M-F, with occasional overtime on weekends and evenings.

Teaching Artist Application & Class Proposal Form

Thank you for your interest in joining the Stillwater Center for the Arts as a teaching artist!  The mission of this organization is to enrich the community by encourage creativity by providing high quality art education and experiences to the public. We select our instructors based on skill and so that we may meet the public's needs and wants.

At a minimum, we expect potential instructors to have a passion for art and some teaching experience. Although we prefer instructors who have a degree in an art-related discipline, experience as an artist also counts! Teaching artists who are able to design classes that employ the Oklahoma Standards for Fine Arts: Visual Arts guidelines are especially welcome.

For new instructors, your application must include the following:

1. Cover letter

3. Names and contact information for 2 references
4. Portfolio of work (or url for website with your work and/or work of students)
5. Class/workshop proposal form

• For Fall classes (September-November), no later than July 15.
• For Winter classes (December-February), no later than September 15.
• For Spring classes (March-May), no later than January 15
• For Summer classes (June-August), no later than February 15.

About the Prairie Arts Center

The mission of the Prairie Arts Center is to encourage the exploration of art and promote creativity for all ages and skill levels.

A Short History of the Prairie Arts Center
In 1971, three architecture students from Oklahoma State University needed more studio space, so they came up with the idea of creating Stillwater’s first community arts center. Multigraphis, as the center was then called, was initially housed in a “drafty old barn” on the edge of town. Although it had limited facilities and funding, it attracted passionate and creative individuals from throughout the community and from among the students, staff, and faculty at OSU. A federal grant later funded the construction of a new facility on 12th Street in Couch Park, which was shared with the Senior Citizen Center for many years. Multigraphis enjoyed strong support from the City of Stillwater, which became the first city in Oklahoma to hire a community arts supervisor, according to a 1986 article in the Oklahoman. Over the years, arts supervisors included Illene Ozment, Sandra Duvall, Susan Venable, Dana Frank, and Jessica Novak, among others. In 2001, the City of Stillwater again demonstrated its commitment to the arts by erecting a new, state of the art, building for the center, now renamed Multi Arts, at 1001 Duck Street.

In 2005, art lovers in the greater Stillwater community formed the Friends of Multi Arts (FMAC), an organization whose purpose was to “promote and support the Multi Arts Center (MAC), a city-owned arts education center.” In 2012, the Friends of Multi Arts reorganized themselves as a non-profit and signed a contract with the City of Stillwater to run the facility. In 2017, the City of Stillwater voted to have OSU take over management of the Multi Arts Center.
Oklahoma State University has made every effort to continue this proud heritage of community-based arts. The name was changed to Prairie Arts Center in 2018 as a reference to our Oklahoma home and the distinctive architecture of our building.

Stillwater, OK is very fortunate to have such a long and rich history of community arts. Oklahoma State University is proud to be a part of this legacy, which supports our ideal of community engagement and our mission to serve the people of Oklahoma.
