Arts Education Internship

Job Description
The Prairie Arts Center Arts Education Intern provides hands-on classroom support during our week-long summer art camps. Primary duties include assisting with classroom preparations and clean up, aiding students in their art making activities, and helping with setting up the final art show each week. As interns gain confidence and prove competency, they may also be asked to help with classroom management and to take the lead on selected activities. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside multiple instructors and observe instruction for students ranging in age from 6-14 years. 

Schedule
Arts Education Interns will work from 9:45 a.m.- 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. If hired, interns may choose to work all six weeks of summer camp in order to receive 3 credit hours or work 2 weeks for 1 credit hour. This choice should be made in consultation with their faculty supervisor and the Arts Education Coordinator here at Prairie Arts Center.

Key Qualifications and Experience  
  • One or more years of experience working with the public
  • One or more years of experience studying the visual arts
  • One or more years of experience working with children
  • Strong communication skills; written and verbal  
  • Ability to work, Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. in June and/or July.
