Think about what is working in your life.  For example, "a morning walk is working for me and helps get my day started. I enjoy how walking wakes my brain up." Another example is that my desk setup at home is working for me, and I can be more focused on daily tasks. Hopefully, this prompt helps you write down all the positives in your life. What are some things working in your life right now? Check out more Journal Prompts on our Creative Classroom.

Happy Labor Day everyone! Here’s a fun one that combines getting outdoors and celebrating the outdoors. All you need are some gathered tree-like branches and bark, a few scraps of paper (regular and tissue), glue, and your imagination. Pro tip: The biggest challenge will be glueing the branches and bark. We recommend pressing for an hour or two under a stack of books, and using a heavier duty glue like tacky glue or gorilla glue.

Don't overthink this one! Rummage through some old magazines and cut out eyes, noses, ears, mouths, chins, and some hair, maybe a hat or two. Find a body and a background and begin to play. Don't worry about matching scale, perspective, or style. Mismatching is the point! Pro tip: cut out plenty of face parts so you have a collection and can experiment without interruption.

Journal Prompt: This
There are many ways to use this prompt... this is how I feel, this makes me happy each day, this marks the end or the beginning. Sometimes one word can spark several different starting points. A couple of examples; This has not been the summer I planned for my family, but this summer has made us enjoy the home we have created. This time shared together is the greatest adventure. July looked like this; sleeping in, working hard from home, and creating memories each day.

Journal Prompt 7

This project has four steps, all of which are good fun! Step one: paint your “cave” (a brown paper bag cut open with torn edges) with symbols and stories. Think hands, arrows, animals, spirals. Use a dark paint- black, red, navy. Step two: when the paint dries, spend time crinkling your paper. Wad it up in a ball and play catch with it. You can’t overdo this step! Step three: use a crayon with its wrapper removed to lightly add a little bit of color on the top of the folds. Step four: for the final touch, add some light splatters of paint for added texture and “age.” If you’re in need of cave art inspiration, check out the caves of #lascaux!
