Call for Participation: Mural Artist

Call for participation: Mural artist wanted for community-arts project in Stillwater, Ok.

Description: The purpose of this project is city beautification by means of creating a series of small murals to decorate concrete walls outside of the Roxie Weber Housing Development, which offers rent-subsidized apartments (134 units) in downtown Stillwater, OK. This project is supported through an OAC grant and will be facilitated by staff at the PrairieArts Center, a City of Stillwater-Oklahoma State University Partnership for Community Arts.

 

Process: The successful candidate will work with Roxie Weber and other community members, as well as the arts education and outreach staff at the Prairie Arts Center, facilitating hands-on ideation workshops and developing a series of images for the murals based on these workshops. These workshops are expected to begin no later than February 2020. Stillwater and Roxie Weber residents will vote on the images, and the artist will paint the murals, starting no later than May 2020. Although the mural artist will be responsible for the majority of the painting, she/he will be assisted by Stillwater community members and Prairie Arts staff.

Please also include links to your website; we are especially interested in seeing examples of murals or public art projects that you have completed or participated in.
