Intro to Oil Painting: Monochromatic Still-life

In this introduction to oil painting two-day workshop, students will create a monochromatic still life painting by using simple objects such as fruits, bottles, utensils etc. as subject matter.

The focus of this workshop will be on establishing strong composition, identifying and assigning value, and understanding one color interaction in oil media. Workshop participants will be guided in the painting process from the initial preparations of the painting surface through the final details of a completed still-life painting. In addition, we will discuss proper painting techniques and methods, brush strokes, and mediums.
