This four-week intermediate workshop is designed for potters who can quickly and accurately center clay and confidently pull a consistent cylinder. The ability to throw to gauge—matching forms to a specific size or weight—will be helpful but is not required; it’s a skill we’ll introduce and reinforce throughout the course to help you create a cohesive dinner set.
Under the guidance of three skilled instructors, you’ll develop precision, design unity, and versatility while making a complete dinnerware collection.
• Week 1 – Bowls with Jen: Fine-tune your throwing techniques to produce well-balanced bowls, perfect for soups, salads, or sides.
• Week 2 – Plates with Missy: Explore both wheel-throwing and handbuilding techniques for plates, expanding your creative possibilities and adding diversity to your set.
• Week 3 – Cups with Alyssa: Throw cups with even walls and well-proportioned shapes that complement your set.
• Week 4 – Tumblers & Handles with Alyssa: Learn to throw tumblers and pull comfortable, well-fitted handles to transform cups into functional mugs.
Students will be responsible for purchasing their clay of choice through the studio.
Bonus: Enrollment in this workshop includes unlimited open studio access for the month, allowing you to practice, refine, and finish your pieces outside of class time.
Class Size: Minimum of 2 students required for the class to run. Maximum of 8 students. If the class reaches maximum enrollment, there is a strong possibility that all instructors will be present each week for additional support and feedback.
By the end, you’ll have a personalized, functional dinnerware collection that reflects both your skill and artistic style.
