Ever wanted to learn how to throw small pieces but struggle to center small amounts of clay?  This is the class for you! We will throw a vase, a bowl, and a ring or candle holder "off the hump." You will learn how to center just the top portion of the clay, how to determine the bottom of your piece, and how to safely cut it off and place it on a drying bat. You will get the most out of this class if you already have a good understanding of centering and confidence with various shapes. The clay is included in the cost of the class. Please bring your own throwing tools (string will be provided).

No experience is needed.  All garden markers will be bisque fired and ready to paint with either acrylic, glaze, or watercolor paints by March 23rd. Introduction to Wheel Throwing 2 will offer the continued practice of centering and creating a cylinder vessel. Demonstration and discussion on advanced surface decoration and glazing techniques will also be covered. Students should have previously taken Introduction to Wheel Throwing 1 to participate in this class. During this class, students are eligible for open studio time.

This is a class that will allow you to get your hands dirty, make mistakes, and get the feel of the wheel. No previous experience in clay is needed for this class. Let’s pull some handles! If you have ever wanted to add handles to your pots but find yourself daunted by the pulling process this class is for you. Practice is key when it comes to making handles so we will spend most of our time practicing rolling out carrots of clay and pulling them into handle shapes. We will also discuss best practices and tips on how to attach your handles to your pots. If you have a trimmed, leather-hard piece that you want to attach a handle to bring it and at least 1 lb. of matching clay to practice with. *Must have prior experience in Prairie pottery studio.
