Adult Classes

Students will learn how to use cold wax and oil as a malleable medium to create texture in painting and multimedia applications. The class is a fun, freeing exploration of this rich medium, employing techniques and playful expression on oil paper. The instructor will cover the properties and demonstrate application of cold wax and oil and then students will paint, paint, paint!  The class is limited to 10 participants to allow for individual attention.  Be prepared to get messy and have fun!  Apron or old clothes are desirable.  All supplies are provided.  A supply fee of $20 is due to the instructor at the beginning of class. All skill levels are welcome.

In this course, students explore the basic physical properties of clay by practicing a variety of hand-forming techniques used to create functional objects. Hand-forming techniques will include pinch pottery, slab and coil building, mold slumping, and texturizing surfaces. The objective of this class is not to make pieces to take home, but rather to learn what is possible and give students a chance to get their hands dirty and feel what it's like to work with clay. No previous experience with clay is needed for this class. This class is a prerequisite to attend  open studio.

Earrings are the most popular jewelry item for gift-giving and selling. In this beginner class, you will learn key concepts such as

soldering, drilling, stone setting, and ear wire forming. You will also learn fold form, a technique that brings dimensionality to your jewelry design.

Join us at the Prairie for Pull a Print,
a free monthly screenprinting activity open to all! This come-and-go
event invites community members to bring a personal item—like a shirt,
tote bag, tea towel, or other flat fabric—and screenprint it with one
unique design created for that month. Keep in mind the design is
approximately 12 inches x 12 inches and we use dark inks to print.

In this Beginning Mosaics class, you will create a 10x10 mosaic of your own design. Students will choose their colors, learn to cut tiles, apply adhesives, and select and apply grout using various methods. Sealing techniques will also be covered. No prior experience is necessary!
