  • Fall Break Art Camp

    Mapmaking Meets Art: An Exploration
During this two-day workshop, we will explore maps and mapmaking from the vantage point of the artist. What do maps do for us and what can be mapped other than land? We will look to old maps, aerial maps, topographical maps, and maps of the unseen and the imaginary for our inspiration and material. Mediums will include printmaking, painting, collage, and drawing.

Support from the Oklahoma Arts Council has allowed us to offer the camp at a reduced price.

    Instructor’s name

Art educator Jen Johnson holds an undergraduate degree in art history and English literature from the University of Kansas, as well as an MAT (Masters in the Art of Teaching) from the English Department at the University of Montana. In her own practice, Jen is equally invested in understanding the larger world through her interactions with the art objects of others and the making of her own art objects. Jen considers her greatest strengths as an educator to be the facilitation of reflective and critical conversations about art and art making, as well as the creation of safe environments for authentic explorations into the practices of self-expression and making. Her preferred mediums are mixed media, printmaking, and photography, but she enjoys the act of creation no matter the medium and considers it one of her greatest joys to make art alongside others.

  • Fall Break Camp

We are celebrating cooler weather and some time off from school with all things cozy and creative in our Fall Break Camp! Pick one day or both, and each day, we will read a book and create projects based off that story. We'll play outside on breaks then warm up with hot chocolate. Snack will be provided each day but lunch will need to be brought in.

On Thursday, October 18th, we will read the book "Windows," by Julia Denos and make projects based off this story of community and the warm colors of fall. On Friday, October 19th, we will read "One Thousand Trees," by Kyle Hughes-Odgers and talk about our natural environments and the importance of trees!
