Kids Classes

  • Summer Arts Studios - Frida Kahlo (2nd Week)

    Come journey with us as we walk through the vibrant andcolorful life of Frida Kahlo! Students may choose to work in 2D, 3D, or sign up for both weeks! Students in the 2D studio will learn how to draw a portrait, paint with acrylics and watercolors, and experiment with printmaking. Students in 3D will work with different types of clay, upcycled mediums such as paper mache, and culinary arts.

    All art camps will run Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students will need to bring a sack lunch, but a light snack will be provided.  We will spend some time outside, so please send sunscreen. Students need to wear closed toe shoes and clothes that can get messy. Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle with the student's name on it. 

    On Friday's we will have all of your student's artwork hanging up and ready for you to bring home.

    Each session is $150.00 for members and $175.00 non-members.

    In this four-week session, kids will learn about the stages of the ceramics process. They will learn hand-building with coils and slabs and will be introduced to the wheel. There will be projects for each learning phase and studies with texture through stamps, carving, and glazing.

    Jennah MacIntyre graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor in Architecture and a minor in Studio Art. Is currently working toward becoming a licensed architect. Outside of work, she likes to do creative things like pottery, yarn spinning, knitting, and others. She has been doing pottery for five years now and it has become something that she loves to teach others about. She loves working with kids.

    I’ll demo each day and work with each artist individually. All levels of experience are welcome, from beginners to seasoned pastelists. Ages 16 and up.
     
    See separate Supply List for recommended materials. 
     
    Supply fee:  I will bring Art Spectrum ColourFix sanded paper, which you can buy at my cost. This will be about $10 per large sheet (approx. 19 1/2 x 27”). We’ll cut those to smaller sizes (11x14, 9x12, 8x10”). Plan on using at least one, maybe two large sheets. 
     
    You are welcome to bring your own paper, if you prefer. Just please be sure it is sanded paper. See separate Supply List for suggestions on sanded papers.

    This pottery class is specially designed for our teenage artists! In thisfour week class students will learn the basic techniques of throwing on the wheel. Each student will have access to a wheel each class and get four weeks of instruction. Reminder: The main focus will be learning the process of wheel throwing, not necessarily the product.

  • Watercolor Winter Wonderlands

    Using vivid watercolor paint and various techniques, learn how to create a snowy winter wonderland. Each student will be given quality heavyweight watercolor paper to make their snowy scenes.
