Beginning Jewelry Making with artist and OSU professor, Chris Ramsay

This exciting intensive one-week beginning jewelry making course will teach students the essential basic skills of the craft. Students will learn to saw, texture, form, solder, cast, and set stones in the creation of wearable jewelry objects. All project materials (metal and stones) and use of basic jewelry making hand tools will be provided in the course fee.

Instructor
Chris Ramsay is a Professor in the Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History at OSU, specializing in metals and jewelry design. Ramsay was named Outstanding Higher Educator of the Year in 2013 by the Oklahoma Art Education Association and was awarded an OSU Regents Distinguished Teaching Award in 2015, and the Oklahoma Governor’s Art Award in 2019. He is an active supporter of art in the public schools in Stillwater. Locally you may have seen his artwork on display at the OSU Art Museum in a one-person exhibition titled Meditations in Stillwater or on permanent display at the Philbrook Museum of Art.

All Supplies Included
Students need to wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get messy. Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle.
