In this 3 hour workshop, we will cover how to start an oil painting and learn foundation techniques such as how to hold a brush, how to use a palette, and how much oil and paint to use. This workshop will focus on values and transitions, using a monochromatic palette. Students will produce a monochromatic painting from photo reference.

Different work stations will allow them the opportunity to experiment with the materials and be inspired by their peers. Students may produce one card, or ten, depending on their choices!

Students will create a whimsical, oversized portrait of a bear wearing a fair isle sweater! This class will include step by step instructions for the bear's outline, and then the opportunity to paint or color in the sweater. The final step is mounting the cut-out bear onto a large piece of wallpaper. The result is sure to please artist and family alike!

In this fun and challenging holiday class, students will create a continuous line drawing of a reindeer using wire. They will add festive flare with other three dimensional decorations and adhere their drawing to a painted canvas background. This project will make a great addition to the holiday decor at home and be treasured for years to come!

Students will explore the various ways of creating functional and sculptural objects by learning different hand-building techniques: slabs, coils, and glazing will be studied. Each session is two weeks long, first week students focus on building, the second week will focus on glazing. Each session will offer a different opportunity to create allowing students to take multiple sessions as their schedules permit.
