Wheel Throwing 2 will offer the continued practice of centering and creating a cylinder vessel. Demonstration and discussion on advanced surface decoration and glazing techniques will also be covered. Students should have previously taken the Introduction to Wheel Throwing 1 to participate in this class. During this class, students are eligible for instructional open studio time.

In this class, you will be creating a reusable, long lasting, freeform screen that can be used with underglaze on your ceramic pieces (either on a form/vessel or on flat slabs). Your maximum image size will be 5 x 5 inches and you will have the choice to make up to two screens (i.e. two images/designs). You can create a single image or repeatable pattern so that your 5 x 5 inch-image can be used to create larger works.  Ideally we will play with a slab of clay and underglaze after our screens have been made.

In Whimsies Part 2 you will continue learning small-scale whimsical sculpture.  We will create a mythical/imaginary being, focusing on facial expressions (eyes, noses, mouth) and embellishments. Come prepared to have fun and stretch a little out of your comfort zone. If you didn't make it to the first one, no problem, Mo will get you caught up!
