Past Pottery Classes

Pinch pots are the foundation of so many handbuilding projects. Come let Mo Wassell walk you through turning a pinch pot into a ball ornament for this holiday season! You get to decide how your ornament will be finished (Mo will provide you with plenty of options) and you will have time after your ornament is bisque fired to glaze on your own in the studio.

In this class, you will be creating a reusable, long lasting, freeform screen that can be used with underglaze on your ceramic pieces (either on a form/vessel or on flat slabs). Your maximum image size will be 5 x 5 inches and you will have the choice to make up to two screens (i.e. two images/designs). You can create a single image or repeatable pattern so that your 5 x 5 inch-image can be used to create larger works.  Ideally we will play with a slab of clay and underglaze after our screens have been made.

In Whimsies Part 2 you will continue learning small-scale whimsical sculpture.  We will create a mythical/imaginary being, focusing on facial expressions (eyes, noses, mouth) and embellishments. Come prepared to have fun and stretch a little out of your comfort zone. If you didn't make it to the first one, no problem, Mo will get you caught up!

As the holidays approach, are you thinking about entertaining? Join pottery instructor, Kim Bryant, to create a unique entertainment service set that includes a pitcher, a medium to a large platter, a relish tray and caddy. You will learn to dart and alter wheel-thrown forms and how to throw consistently sized and uniformly shaped pieces. Students will glaze on their own time.
