Robert Rauschenberg Spring Break Art Camp

Calendar
Art Camp
Date
03/22/2019 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Description

We will learn about the development of Pop Art and American visual arts in the 1950s and 1960s through a focus on the work of artist Robert Rauschenberg during this Spring Break Art Camp! Since Rauschenberg was known for his use of non-traditional materials and techniques, students will be encouraged to do the same! Participants will experiment with painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. Camp will include a field trip to the OSU Museum of Art in order to examine Rauschenberg’s extraordinary stainless steel mural in their collection. We'll also explore the similarities between the visual arts, and music from the second half of the 20th century and create works of art inspired by these shared themes.

*Support from the Oklahoma Arts Council has allowed us to offer the camp at a reduced price.

A snack will be provided, but students need to bring their lunch each day.

After care will be provided each day of camp from 3-5pm for an additional $25 per day. This is not instructional time, but books, games, videos, and drawing activities will be available.
Instructor's
Lindsey Carter is currently the Art Teacher at Holy Trinity Lutheran School, a private school in Edmond, where she teach grades K-8th. She has worked as a Paraprofessional with the Weatherford Public School System and taught art as well. Last summer she was the lead instructor for our Summer Art Studio, a six weeks summer art camp from June through July. She graduated high school from a small town in Osage County and then attended Oklahoma State University to study Studio Art. She found her passion for teaching when she started working at the Multi Arts Center while attending OSU. Lindsey's preferred mediums are acrylic/oil painting, gouache, and printmaking. She looks forward to returning and teaching at the Prairie Arts Center and can not wait to meet everyone!

Liz Dueck is a teaching artist who works primarily in landscape oil painting and ceramic sculpture. She received her BFA from Oklahoma State University as well as a minor in Art History and a K-12th Teaching Certification for Art. Dueck has exhibited her work at various galleries in the OSU campus, as well as in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Last year she had taught art in Costa Rica and now is very excited to work with the community of Stillwater as the Art Education Coordinator of the Prairie Arts Center.
