This week our spotlight is on native Oklahoman, Mary Blair. Blair was an illustrator, animator, and designer for Walt Disney in the 1940's and 50's, working on such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice and Wonderland. Just like Blair's work, our week will be full of color, movement, and storytelling!

Prairie Arts Center is excited to partner with the OSU Museum of Art for this year's Spring Break Camp. Humans and the Hydrosphere will be an exploration of the museum's current exhibition, "The State We're In Water: Constructing a Sense of Place in the Hydrosphere." The hydrosphere is the sum total of all the water on the planet. Students will be using the lens of art and art-making to learn about watershed habitats, wastewater recycling, and the imprint of water movement on the land. They will also have the chance to explore and express their own relationship to water and participate in an interactive tour of the exhibition led by Cat and Christina at the museum.

This year's summer camps are a playful pairing of art and the ologies! Together, we will explore the many ways artwork illustrates, aids, and even creates human understanding in fields as diverse as psychology, mythology, marine biology, and entomology. Each week we will take our inspiration from two fields of study, creating works that express and celebrate our expanding knowledge!
