In this 1.5-hour workshop, students will learn the basics of slab construction while creating a functional clay picture frame. No prior clay experience is needed—just curiosity and creativity! Participants will roll out slabs, shape their frame, and use texture tools and stamps to personalize their design.

Join us for a hands-on glass crafting experience led by stained glass artist Meghan Brasuell. In this workshop, you'll design and assemble a unique abstract stained glass sun catcher using up to five pieces of our colorful scrap glass. You'll learn the Tiffany-style stained glass technique, perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike. With a variety of glass colors and shapes to choose from, each participant will leave with a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects their personal style.

Join us for an engaging glass crafting workshop, guided by stained glass artist Meghan Brasuell. You'll have the chance to create a charming Pumpkin Plant Stake! In this session, you’ll choose your color palette from a variety of our scrap glass and learn the Tiffany-style stained glass technique, known for its elegance and precision. This class welcomes all skill levels and is designed to spark your creativity while introducing you to a timeless art form. Each participant will leave with a unique, handcrafted pumpkin stake they made themselves.

Join us in in this introductory metalsmithing series and take a deep dive into creating your own jewelry. In the first two sessions, you will get a thorough introduction to the Prairie metals studio and tools while creating a simple sterling silver ring. During this process you will learn how to create a bezel, saw, texture, solder, form a ring shank and set a stone. In the following two sessions, you will have the opportunity to fabricate a ring or pendant of your own design. The last two weeks will include open studio access to experiment and continue working on your final project. After completing this course, you will be eligible to enroll in open studio to continue creating!

In this course, students explore the basic physical properties of clay by practicing a variety of hand-forming techniques used to create functional objects. Hand-forming techniques will include pinch pottery, slab and coil building, mold slumping, and texturizing surfaces. The objective of this class is not to make pieces to take home, but rather to learn what is possible and give students a chance to get their hands dirty and feel what it's like to work with clay. No previous experience with clay is needed for this class. This class is a prerequisite to attend  open studio.
