  • June Instructional Open Studio

    The goal of Instructional Open Studio is for students to work freely within a flexible schedule while an instructor is present. Instructional Open Studio is open to students that have taken the Introduction to Pottery and with beginner to advanced pottery knowledge.   • Learn to Stretch Canvas

    Students will learn how to stretch a canvas from start to finish. Learn the use of tools and materials required to assemble any size canvas that they desire to paint.

    Instructor’s name:
    Artist Simon Graves is  Painter from Oklahoma. His paintings are mainly contemporary native American themes and also other subjects. His paintings range from a surreal to a more realistic form with bold expressions of color. Simon attended the Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe New Mexico, in which he received his degree. He also took other college courses in the field of Art at the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque and Oklahoma State University.

  • Let's Face It - Drawing Class with Jude Tolar

    Drawing Class with Jude Tolar, PSA, IAPS/MC
    Two Saturday afternoons 
    October 12 & November 9, 2019, 12:30-3:30 pm
    A drawing class in which we’ll learn to draw faces. The focus is on drawing the facial form, not necessarily a portrait. 
     
    We’ll work from life, with a live model. The first session will use graphite on white drawing paper. The second session will use Conte crayon on Canson Mi-Tientes paper. 
     
    Supply List  
     
    —For the October 12 session: 1 sheet white drawing paper 18x24” —not newsprint. Full-size; don’t cut it down. 
     
    —For the November 9 session:1 sheet Canson Mi-Tientes drawing paper, Moonstone color, 19x25". Full-size; don’t cut it down. 
    I’ll have Canson Mi-Tientes sheets available for you to buy, at my cost of $2 each 
         You are welcome to bring your own. It needs to be Moonstone, or tan/light gray/similar. Not white and not a dark color.

          A sheet of foam core, 20x30" 
    Tape several large sheets of newspaper or newsprint on the foam core, to pad your drawing surface. Then wrap the foam core with kraft paper. You can do this at the workshop, if you prefer.

    Have an art date with your child and create a creepy crawlie spider for Halloween using a paper plate, pipecleaners, and googly eyes!

  • Medallion Stamping Workshop

    April 21, 2018, 2:00-4:00 pm. Students will learn to make their own custom pendant or keychain. They will learn how to add decoration by stamping and hammer texture to create their own unique metal piece. By the end of theworkshop, students will leave with two complete pieces. All skill levels are welcome – no experience is necessary. Just bring your creativity!

Participants will learn techniques in slab building by making a cookie tray and a milk mug. White clay, with fun textures and colors, will finish off this festive class.
