  • Introduction to Handbuilding

Instruction will include students’ skills in the areas of general properties of clay, hand-building, and glazing. The objective is not to make pieces to take home, rather learning what is possible and allowing you to get your hands dirty and feel what it's like! Pottery is a very physical and hands-on art form that many have yet to fall in love with. (a prerequisite for instructional open studio)

    Instructor's name
Mo Wassell - I have journeyed through most art media, searching for a way to tell the stories inside my soul; but it wasn’t until I experienced my hands in clay that I truly found my voice. My pieces are hand-built using various techniques – slab, coil, pinch pot, or random lumps of clay shaped into the form I feel. My finishes may include glazes, underglazes, raku, or cold finishes (acrylic, ink, collage, pencil, or who knows?), and often include found objects.

    Course type

4 weeks; class meets once a week for 3 hours (12 hours of instructional time)

    Class time

    Tuesday, March 3rd - March 31st 6pm - 9pm.
While enrolled in class Instructional Open Studio time is included. There will be no class on March 17th, but the studio will be open to enjoy.

    Tuition

    $110 members; $135 non-members

    Ages
    16 years old and up

    Supplies included
