Join us for a 3-hour gouache class, during which you will create a beautiful painting. Our instructor will guide you step by step and teach you different techniques with the medium, starting with using light layers, building them up, and adding detailed lines and textures to bring your artwork to life. The goal of Open Studio is for students to work freely on their own projects within a flexible schedule. Open Studio is open to students that have completed Wheel 1 or Handbuilding. During these hours students may come in and work. This is not a led class, but a working studio where questions can be addressed to instructors and peers. We hope to create an environment where students can experiment and get creative while having a community of support!

This class offers an opportunity to get up close and personal with the newest fiber arts phenomenon - rug tufting. We will provide your frame, your tufting cloth, your choice of four different yarn colors from our selection, and your tufting machine, as well as an instructor to guide you through it! By the end of the two day class, you’ll have a fully tufted rug. You can choose a design from our preselected options or create your own design! After the workshop we will finish the backing of your rug for you, and they will be available for pickup right back here at the PAC.

In this class, you will use a torch to soften and flow glass over a metal surface, also known as vitreous enameling. The class will cover the basics of enameling and also introduce you to cloisonné, a technique that has produced some of the world’s most beautiful and iconic jewelry pieces. Cloisonné and other enamel techniques are not hard to learn when the right tools and supplies are in place, so you will probably feel very pleased with your first attempt! Your finished project will be a cloisonné pendant. This class is held two consecutive Wednesday evenings. The class is open to beginners with no previous metalsmith experience.
