This course is designed for intermediate/advanced ceramic enthusiasts who have a solid foundation in pottery, looking to grow their creativity and knowledge of wheel throwing. Through individual and group discussion the class looks to offer guidance in wheel techniques for stack vessels, jars and lids, teapots, unique handle designs, trimming, and different ways to deal with large amounts of clay on the wheel. The course will also introduce knowledge of clay bodies- the way they react to certain circumstances during the creation process, aesthetics of form, surface decoration, glaze techniques, and some interesting historical context that still has relevance to the medium today. Expect a collaborative and dynamic environment where you can experiment with new ideas, receive constructive feedback, and grow as an artist!

In this workshop, artist Lauren Florence will walk you through a variety of color charts: a simple matrix, a value chart, a circle, and a parent color chart. Class discussion will cover the benefits of each chart, the benefits of creating your own charts for quick reference in your studio, and the benefits of painting with a limited palette. Saturday Youth Clay Workshop: Tropical Fish
Join us for fun, hands-on Saturday Youth Clay Classes, designed for kids ages 8-14! Each month, students will explore different hand-building techniques to create a unique clay project. No prior experience with clay is needed. After the workshop, projects will be bisque-fired and ready for painting, glazing, or pick-up as early as the following week.

Stamp Making
Join us for a creative and beginner-friendly stamp making class! We will guide you through the process of designing and carving your own custom stamps. Each student will receive a 4 x 6-inch piece of stamp carving material to create whatever they like—you can design one large stamp perfect for printing on postcards or choose to cut it into smaller sections to make a variety of mini stamps. You will learn how to safely carve your designs, transfer images, and properly take care of your stamps.

Under the guidance of a professional ceramic artist, you’ll learn the foundational techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Throughout the course, you’ll work on instructor-designed projects that highlight each of these techniques and help you develop and refine your skills step by step. All students will work on the same projects at the same pace, ensuring a cohesive learning experience and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive personalized feedback.
