In this course, students explore the basic physical properties of clay by practicing a variety of hand-forming techniques used to create functional objects. Hand-forming techniques will include pinch pottery, slab and coil building, mold slumping, and texturizing surfaces. The objective of this class is not to make pieces to take home, but rather to learn what is possible and give students a chance to get their hands dirty and feel what it's like to work with clay. No previous experience with clay is needed for this class. This class is a prerequisite to attend instructional open studio.

Wheel Throwing 2
Introduction to Wheel Throwing 2 will offer the continued practice of centering and creating a cylinder vessel. Demonstration and discussion on advanced surface decoration and glazing techniques will also be covered. Students should have previously taken Introduction to Wheel Throwing 1 to participate in this class. During this class, students are eligible for instructional open studio time.
Pet Portraits with Colored Pencil
Imagine the fun it would be if you could draw your own pet with ease! In this course, you will learn how to reproduce a quality photograph of your most beloved animal using colored pencils and a plastic grid. The most important element for your success is enthusiasm!

Kids Studio August 1st-4th
This summer's Kids' Art Studio will be an Encore! of our Artists in the Spotlight summer camps. We will take our inspiration from artists Alan Shields (Tuesday), Gabriel Orozco (Wednesday), Henri Matisse (Thursday), and Etel Adnan (Friday). Even though returning students may be familiar with the artists and their work, the projects will be new. Unlike summer camp, students may attend one day, all four, or anything in between.
Introduction to Glass Fusing
This series of classes is designed to teach you the basics of glass fusing as well as some fun, slightly more advanced, techniques to explore. You will also learn glass studio safety protocols and how to properly use and care for the tools, materials, and equipment. Upon completion of this course, you may use the glass studio during open studio hours.

Fused Glass Potted Plant Decorations
Join us in learning how to use glass to create beautiful potted plant decorations! You will use different colors of glass to design unique decor to add to your potted plants or garden. Students can make up to three decorations and instructor Candy Beth Michalski will guide you through the process. No previous experience is needed.
