Have you ever been interested in learning the art of metalsmithing in order to create your own, one-of-a-kind jewelry? Now you can at Prairie Arts Center! In this Beginning Metalsmithing and Jewelry course, students will learn to solder, texture, saw, file, and set a stone while creating a beautiful ring to take home. Students will also learn jewelry studio safety protocols and how to properly use and care for the tools. No previous metalsmithing experience is required. Upon completion of this course, students may sign up to use the studio during open studio hours.

This summer's Kids' Art Studio will be an Encore! of our Art Through the Decades summer camps. We will take our inspiration from the 1920's (Tuesday), 1960's (Wednesday), 1970's (Thursday), and the 1980's and 90's (Friday). Even though returning students may be familiar with the themes and artists of the decades, the projects will be new. Unlike summer camp, students may attend one day, all four, or anything in between.

Join us to learn how to hand embroider onto clothing! We will embroider a Cowboys or Pioneers DIY logo onto a shirt of your choosing and teach you how to use washable interfacing and various fabric stiffeners to make your patterns pop on the fabric. We will also learn how to make the pattern durable and be a long-lasting piece in your wardrobe!

Join us for a choose-your-own-adventure glass fusing class! Each student will have a 5 X 5 inch kiln shelf to fill with glass to be fused. You can make earrings, pendants, brooches, tie tacks, cuff links, etc! Or you can glue magnets on your glass creations to display or just put them in a flowerpot, aquarium or water fountain. Come join the fun!
