Introduction to Wheel Throwing 2 will offer the continued practice of centering and creating a cylinder vessel. Demonstration and discussion on advanced surface decoration and glazing techniques will also be covered. Students should have previously taken the Introduction to Wheel Throwing 1 to participate in this class. During this class, students are eligible for instructional open studio time.

Join us for our July embroidery workshop focused on Sashiko stitching. This style of embroidery is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery used for decorative and/or functional reinforcement of clothing. Instructor Marianne will walk you through different pattern options or guide you to create your own. No previous experience is required.

This summer's Kids' Art Studio will be an Encore! of our Artists in the Spotlight summer camps. We will take our inspiration from Shel Silverstein (Tuesday), Georgia O'Keeffee (Wednesday), Betye Saar (Thursday), and Ray and Charles Eames (Friday). Even though returning students may be familiar with the artists, the projects will be new. Unlike summer camp, students may attend one day, all four, or anything in between.

Students will explore the various ways of creating functional and sculptural objects by learning different hand-building techniques: slabs, coils, and glazing will be studied. Each session is two weeks long, first week students focus on building, the second week will focus on glazing. Each session will offer a different opportunity to create allowing students to take multiple sessions as their schedules permit.

We are happy to announce a full six-week roster of in-person summer camps this year for children ages 6-14. Each week we will explore a different artist in depth, creating works inspired by their medium, subject matter, philosophy, and life. Each 4 day camp will include a combination of two dimensional and three dimensional projects, and will be divided into a 6-10 year old age group and an 11-14 year old group. As always, we will learn a lot, play, explore, and expand our understanding of art and the world around us!
