Join us this week for some printmaking fun! Campers will make monoprints and linocut prints, both individual and collaborative, while learning all about the printmaker's cabinet of tools and supplies. They will hone their carving skills, learn how to safely use the press, pull ink through a screen, and perhaps most importantly, practice thinking with "printer's mind," imagining their work reversed, as in a mirror image.

We are excited to bring back the clay specific, half-day camps for our 11-14 year old artists! Students will explore the basic physical properties of clay by practicing a variety of hand-forming techniques, as well as throwing on the wheel, and glazing. Two days will be devoted to the completion of multiple hand built projects, one day to getting the feel of the wheel, and one day to glaze. Please note that students should not expect a completed form from their one day on the wheel. This is a time to play and practice, get dirty, and make mistakes! Due to the nature of the medium and the high temperature fires, student work is occasionally damaged or a loss. We use these rare instances to teach students resilience and persistence. We do not offer make up classes.

Join us this week as we turn our attention toward the most foundational element of visual art there is: line! Campers will take inspiration from the gestural lines of the abstract expressionists, the heavy contour lines of Roy Lichtenstein and the pop artists, the whimsical, wondering lines of Joan Miro as well as the sharp, bold lines of op art painter Bridget Riley. To investigate the way line supports rhythm, students might look at Agnes Martin, Sonia Delaunay, or Frank Loyd Wright. Most importantly, campers will make works with their own lines, finding a rhythm and style all their own.
